Manual therapy can help with pain management, stiff joints to improve range of motion, improve tissue flexibility, address scar adherence, which can cause pain or decreased range of motion, decrease edema, and improve overall function. Manual therapy is often hands on intervention performed by the treating therapist. There are many types of hands-on therapy that a therapist can utilize to address your areas of need.
Hands-on therapy is one intervention along with therapeutic activities or exercises and modalities like heat, ice, paraffin, e-stim, and ultrasound which requires evaluation, re-evaluation, screening, assessment, and planning further intervention to ensure continued improvement for the patient’s needs. As formal therapy progresses, the patient may be able to perform more of their therapy at home to continue their improvement and independence to everyday occupations.
Kimberly Hurley has been treating me for about a year. I can without hesitation credit her attitude and continued detailed attention have been the driving force in my continuing improvement. My surgeon has been especially pleased with my continuing recovery and is amazed that with every visit there is still visible improvement.
